Funny thing, I had resume that typed great and perfect, then people loved it. They called me and learned I am deaf then DUMP me for no reason. Many years, I have told them I have lot of office experiences and do anything they could name it. They not want deaf to work for them, why they not think that deaf has weak job experiences?
I remember from my dad who is manager of company. He said, “you have to sell yourself to them.” I did but they find out I am deaf then DUMP me by phone calls. I come to company in person without INTERPRETER and had interview with them. They won’t believe me because I am very strong person and challenged with them. They falls in me and hires without hang up on me.
Resume send and mailed. They called, hang on me without realized that I have been more in business than they think I would fail. When I learned about that rumor and proved them wrong. I am normal human that cannot hear at all. I come as normal and do same things.
One person I met who is deaf but can speak. She never understand the lipreading and required interpreter to communication with, no matter ever she can speak. She went to deaf school in her life. They think she not need that entry so when they hired me as because of her job. When I come to work and they noticed me much different than her. I was mainstreamed in public school all the years, had interpreter in the classroom. I CAN READ LIPS and understand them faster than her. I don’t speak at all. If you would like to hear me then you will laugh at me because I speak like kid!
Anything related to this. Please do.
