Louise Flecther was born in Birmingham, Alabama, in 1934 and refused to speak until 8 years old. Her parents are deaf, and she is a CODA (child of deaf adults), and schoolteachers send her home because believing her being deaf! Her parents send her to Texas to live her aunt, who is hearing and theater loving. Her aunt teaches her to use the voice and speaking ability. She has been drawn to those theatres and films among actors like Jack Nicholson and James Garner, etc.

Louise study drama in UNC (University of North Carolina) Go TAR HEEL! and moved to Los Angeles, hope to continue study drama as work as medical receptionist to earn financial. Once she was an “imposing, steely-eyed actress.” and stated that tried finding work in anything but Westerns, where her height was an advantage. She stands 5’11.

Once she leaves acting to be with her husband and kids for 11 years then come back when she was 40 years old and cast in her iconic role and continued acting into her 80s. She dead at 88 (September 2022).

Her quotes are: “Is looks like you all hated me so much that you’ve given me this award for it and all I can say is I’ve loved being hated by you.” – She won Oscar for 1975 classic One Flew Over the Cuckoo’s Nest. At the ceremony, she surprised the audience by delivering part of her acceptance speech in sign language. “If a part interests me, I don’t mind how small it is. People are always telling me: ‘You’ll ruin your career doing things like that’ but I like to work.” – Louise in 1982.

Her last work is Film: The Perfect Man in 2000 and Television: girlboss in 2017. She received the honorary degree from Gallaudet University. She won BEFTA Award and Golden Globe Award, too.
