Many months I come by and was “hear” with hearing person can sign language. One guy come to us and asking many odd questions that was so obviously to me. We stand there and listen to his comments on deaf and hearing side.

Okay, back to beginning when I met that guy and I saw his cochlear implant. He is obvious not make any sense but keep going. He asked many odd questions for months so this time I becomes fed up with him. I am pretty sure those people had been fed up too. We all patience with him asking those questions which clear to us. He is HEARING person, not deaf. Why?

Let’s tell you little bit on him. He is in somewhere level job he work. (not ask him that question because his disagreement with us) He been in deaf school all his life and went to University in New York that has deaf program there. He got his CI not that long ago….maybe about couple years ago or so.

Okay, now. One question for you. Why do those deaf people not want him to be social with them? Answer is…. He is one who has been distance from deaf. Okay, Other question for you. Which is best for him to social in deaf or hearing? Answer is….He been distance from deaf people. Both are easy! He think he is HEARING. He always stay distance from us and alone. He speaks that he is not interesting social with deaf people. BINGO!

One question he asked that I would laugh. What does my voice sound to you? (He asked one interpreter and I was stand front of them) She (interpreter) answered, Your voice is not normal like hearing. (I said AMEN) He becomes not satisfied with that answer so too bad. Our accents are varied with different sounds on volume.

Okay, my question for you. Why he keep coming to us? Is he lonely? Is he confused by hearing or deaf? What make him decide on CI and what is his goal? What is your opinion on CI?

Two of them are same kind of person who has hearing loss. One person had it and other person not choose it. Two people go to work in same place but has different title. CI person been through the journey by deaf to able to hear and training to speak on own voice. Non CI person does not have been in the journey like CI, normal for them being deaf. Many people at work are impressed on CI worker and move to promotes job. Non CI person stuck with same title in lifetime.

Non CI person received the University degrees and hopefully have better career. It comes back as same title, can not promotes anymore. The title is requires Call as Customer Service, Talk as converse with others, and conference. It is hard for Non CI person to received that facts and can’t reaches where they wanted.

About CI – Treatment with cochlear implants (CIs) in single-sided deaf individuals started less than a decade ago. CIs can successfully reduce incapacitating tinnitus on the deaf ear and allow, so some extent, the restoration of binaural hearing.

About deaf – This occurs when a person cannot understand speech through hearing, even when sound is amplified. Profound deafness: This refers to a total lack of hearing. An individual with profound deafness is unable to detect sound at all.

That helps understands our silence sitaution.

This title was tricky thing to say because I been seen all among people who does not know any sign language. They always think we are doing the gang signs. OUCH! No one understands us. We are NOT gang, we are signing our universal language to make communications each other like you do the French or Spanish. We does not understand you saying so those fore you do not understand us signing. That.

I have seen gang signs too and not understand them either! That is true because we did not sign like that. If you seen one, then think twice they are gang. If you seen deaf or sign language person, then think twice they are talking.

Happen to me all the time. They could get angry with me for misunderstanding conversion with so got frustrated with them so easy. I still wish they would understand me instead of think of me like gang signs. No Shit! Excuse my language.

watch double? Not meant twins. Hehe. Why double is about us been doing watch their lip and use our eyes instead of ears. We deaf does not hear so use our eyes to see. Ears is not working for us and impossible to hear everything where we can hear or not. Our eyes are “ears” and read lip is become stressed for us because it requires lot of practice and could fall asleep after few chapters. I tried read lip and felt so tense. Also felt so exhausted from that. It is hard for us use both lip and “hear” by watching.

We should take breaks often if requires reading or “hear”. That is reason why we use the communication on phone to make sure we are on page and socialize better. Sometimes have to be close them to listening than 6 feet distance.

I know 6 feet distance and wear mask for everybody but us? Try our best within reading lip and watch others. Masked should have clear and possible to read lip better. 6 feet distance is good but we can’t hear you and need to pat us anywhere to get us attention.

This year is 2021 and last year is 2020. Why I said Historical Removed? Is because of those protesters put up “hate” and “rid off” on history from 1700s to 2020s. Those protesters wanted to use current historical rest and threw all past historical that where all history in education at school years. Where were you in 2020? Born? Brainwashed by political? Stand by? Hiding?

I not know how much those protesters don’t care of past and what about their education back in the school years? They just trapped and damaged their statue then put up new statue that no one know who it is. All of us been knowledge who those statue was and honor the history that successes. The new statue is up and no one know the history, just put it like “She is strong, strike against”. Blah. What is that? How we know those history important to them? I think the past is history important to us because it showed us to remembers what they done for us. I know some status are bad but it does show to remind us to do better than that event happens. Those status just shows and honored. If those status down or damaged then no one knows the important part. I know they are deceased but what about history itself?

This part of my theories on my mind. You have your own theories. Imagine this from mine to yours. I have honored and knowledge on people I knew for long time.

First is figure skating. I can remembers Peggy Fleming, Dorothy Hamill, Dick Button and rest of skaters. My heart to Canada, Germany, France, Russia and British team. Those skaters I could remembers their successes and honored them for being hall of fame or dedicated skaters. I watched on television and live show from 1973 to now. I loved them.

Second is Basketball and Baseball. I can remember “Magic” Johnson and Larry Bird because they are my favorite players. My NBA become faded after Michael Jordan but I do remembers on Bryant Kobe (blessed heart). See I have honored them. Baseball was my short term husband! I can remember Pete Rose, Mike Schmidt, Tommy Lasorda and rest of players. I always cheered on them for Hall of Fame or dedicated baseball players. I always loved them, no matter what they did bad or good.

Third is Music…..Yeah I am deaf but always like to sit down and listening to them. In fact, my mom had me in her womb and stand by jukebox! I always sit down behind the radio, had radio in my car or radio in the home to keep me calm down. Okay! I have seen all Kings and Queens of Music from Elvis to Taylor Swift. All musicians and singers were amused and excited. I have loyal to them and cheered on their successes. My types is Rock and Country. It has best in Bass or Rhythm for me. In fact, I wrote song! Never publish mine. Anyway, honored and blessed their heart.

Last thing is president historical. Yes I know I am NOT in political and true. I do learned the history in school and knowledge about president term in years. I don’t care about political because I am not good at that. I am loyal honored on their active years as president. You know George Washington, John Adams, Thomas Jefferson, and famous well known rest. One thing come up to me is Abe (Abraham Lincoln) been helping those people but after his term over and others become president that changed the history. He was one that fame for war, not in his president election years. The protesters pushed those presidents in bad looking history which they are FAME for war, not while being president. They wanted to damaged their history of presidents in 1700s to 2020. Not their life as military years or working for people. Have to respect that or forget.

Let’s us see how our new president doing in next 4 years. How our protesters behavior? How our people behavior? No one knows.

Many times I never think of reading English would understand easy for us. Us? I have read English in books, newspapers or ever papers for the years. Never think of the way we speak. Why never think that way? Okay, let’s say this. When I was signing after the words to words and notices my signing was different than English. Why? Many times, all of deafies been reading “hands” from English transferring to ASL (America Sign Language). English does not understand us and ASL does understand us. If reading the ASL into English will be hard for us.

Reading the ASL? Let’s see if I can find some of example. There was sentences in sign language image. Can you read this?

See not English but ASL transferring. If I read this English and see different than above image.

“My bird sings. ” ” My bird and that bird out sing.” “My bird sings (no way make chirps noise) would say “sounds”” See what I typed what I signing from that sentence above.

That! Many times, our language get confused by communication with hearing and could be misunderstanding from English reading into ASL or ASL into English reading.

I have to make sure my write not confusing you! LOL

Whoa! It is not about me. I was told by friend who said too embarrassed to wear them. I asked why did you think too embarrassed to wear them? He said too confusedly and volume too high or low. Back in my mind said never heard that before but say nothing. Just learning from him about embarrassed wear them. Wow.

My hearing aides are great but unfortunately th as t made me having headaches. I would mind wear them if no headaches act up.

Sigh! Serious. Why use that headlights really bright on narrow roads? Why can’t change to normal headlights for roads that we faced at evenings or narrow roads? We not need that LED headlights because it is shit! Sorry my English language. I know LED headlights is wonderful thing for cars but that roadside is No No.

Can you fix that headlights to normal, not brighter can hurts our eyes at nights!

I read along those comments in Twitters, Facebook or Instagram (know it is pictures thing but had some of copy/paste quotes). Also I worked with production crews and notice few things made everything difficulty for director and casting director. I can understand that situation about those roles that asked for.

Let me tell you what I have faced and saw the point of view. When my director asked me to sent some people about deaf role for filming and got those response back is which is not what we wanted because we are low budget affordable and possible in local. Those deaf roles I have send been spread into US (Untied States) and most of Eastern states send me those responses within requires cost and spends, etc. My director turns toward the local actor for deaf role who is hearing within ASL frequency. I had deaf male actor and director likely change the story into brother of transman. I had been his mentor for while. His role was short and sweet. Also, Director sent to some Transgender role and got this same comments as deaf actors. All transgenders responses back about how much, how knowledge about transgender or what film about, etc. He decided to stay with local actor for transgender as 6 months to a year alike with top chest recent surgery who is hearing and biological straight male willing to play for that role. The filming we made was successes and short film.

When I read those comments from Twitters that bring me back to above story I telling you about. I know deaf and LGBTQA is very small community because not many come out as everyone knew. All of them are just human, not much to identify as deaf or gay. Actors wiling to take the role instead of deaf or gay roles. Is deaf actors out there? Is gay actors out there? No one…..how that work? The director can LOST the filming because of leak of roles. The casting director can LOST the actors because of leak of roles. Which you do prefer? No FILMING or No ACTORS paid.

I would say, Oversaw the conversation because I can read lip but not always perfect but catch the words that familiar to me. It make everything sense to me and can be misunderstood by what they meant to be. It could be meant me or person because the way they put their finger pointing and the way body behavior towards.

The way they said “she will be mad if we make her do this” I would laugh at that because I do look like mad but not happens. Well if you know why I look like mad is frustrating for bad communication with me. Frustrating is hardest for me to stay sober with their communication instead of angry or bad thoughts. They not know how much I cares about it and not know me that well. Clearly they not know much about deaf community enough. True enough.

Lot of people who I met and know me being humor and could be crazy if you like. Many times deafies tend be frustrated by hearing people because of leak of communication and it is true. Deafies isn’t alone because I am one of them. If we had them in educational about deaf community enough and would understand us better so it won’t be problem with us.

Police always get serious with us for misunderstanding or miscommunications. Cashiers always get serious with us for inpatient. Doctors always get serious with us for inpatient and miscommunications. Many reasons get us in trouble with understanding and behavioral issues.
