I know it might sound rude, but the reality is that deafness affects communication. We all have feelings and can be hurt when corrected by others. We often don’t know what people are saying when they point at us—it could be anger or a misunderstanding. Many times, we respond in sign language instead of speaking because they use their voices, so we use our language. Neither side may fully understand each other’s comments. Sometimes, they laugh at us for no reason, so we respond through expressions.
